EMEA Early Talent Program

The hiring and development of graduate and intern team members is of more importance in EMEA than ever before. The range of growth and opportunity across the region has meant that creating a pipeline of future leaders is a priority for key business areas.

Participants in the first Wells Fargo EMEA Early Talent Program joined in Autumn 2018 and have recently ended their yearlong training, with final presentations, feedback from leaders, and a graduation ceremony.

To demonstrate Wells Fargo’s commitment to developing team members starting out in their careers the Talent Planning team created a program to include graduates from several lines of business and across multiple countries who, alongside their day-to-day roles, spent 12 months participating in development initiatives focussed on both behavioural competencies and technical ability.

The group of 11 graduates worked towards their final, group project and presentations for a few months. “The aim was to apply the professional development skills they’d built throughout the program, including understanding of Wells Fargo’s Vision, Values and Goals, the business and region, as well as skills related to communication, working in a team and leveraging their own strengths,” said EMEA Talent leader Valentina Ziviani.

Each group put together a business case and a short, persuasive presentation on a specific topic of their choice related to corporate philanthropy, volunteerism, environmental sustainability or diversity and inclusion. One group’s business case proposed creating a safe space/ally program; the other related to reducing plastic usage through reusable packaging in our London office. The groups presented to a panel of leaders who provided feedback to the groups afterward.

“I think the whole program was of excellent quality. Not just the program itself, but also the engagement and drive of the trainers has really contributed and made the program a success,” said one graduate.
