Wells Fargo and Indspire
Wells Fargo Canada has established the Wells Fargo Indigenous Student Award which will assist six Indigenous students with their post-secondary education in finance, business or technology. The award has been created in conjunction with Indspire, a national Indigenous registered charity, in a continued effort to invest in the education of Indigenous people.
"I give my sincere thanks to Wells Fargo for your generosity to Indspire's Building Brighter Futures: Bursaries, Scholarship and Awards — helping to empower Indigenous students to achieve their greatest potential," said Roberta Jamieson, president and CEO of Indspire. "Your investment in Indigenous youth across Canada will encourage and empower them, converting their ambitions and inspirations into achievement and a brighter future. Your commitment is sending a clear message that every student should be given that chance to succeed and for that, we are truly grateful!"
Wells Fargo is also participating in Indspire's Rivers to Success mentorship program. The program matches Wells Fargo team members with post-secondary Indigenous students to prepare them for success in the workforce.
The mentorship program has been received with great enthusiasm from Wells Fargo's Canada leaders, including Canada Country Head Rick Valade who was matched with a student and will give 3 to 4 hours of mentoring every month for a year.
"We are very excited to contribute to the lives of Indigenous communities in Canada and help Indigenous students succeed," said Rick. "As Wells Fargo continues to champion a diverse and inclusive workplace, we are proud to invest in the future of individuals from all backgrounds and walks of life, and look forward to making a difference."
Investment in the award and the mentoring program is for the long-term benefit of the individuals participating in the program, their families and communities, and Canada. Wells Fargo hopes to encourage and support the indigenous population participating in these programs by offering every chance for a successful future.
