Announcer: If your phone screen went well, you’ll be invited in for a face-to-face interview. Typically this is with the hiring manager, though it might be other team members too. Today, we’ll talk about that first interview, but you can use these tips to make a great impression at any stage of the process. One of the most powerful things you can do is share real-life examples of the things you have done. Be specific about what you did, and how you did it, and the results you achieved and you’ll show the interviewer exactly what you can do. Remember, your interviewer isn’t just making sure you have the right skills, they also want to get a sense of who you are and if you’ll be a good fit for the team. So be yourself. People want to see the real you. Don’t be afraid to be honest about what you’re passionate about and why you want to work for this company. And the best way to learn? Ask questions in the interview, like “What’s your favorite thing about working here? What are the previous challenge that this position faces? How will the person in this role work with other teams?”
Two final tips. One: Have an answer to “Tell me about yourself.” Prepare one that’s short, sweet and targeting the job you’re applying to. It’s probably the first question you’ll be asked. And Two: Get a good night’s sleep. Make a big cup of coffee, map out your route to the office, and do anything else you need to feel your best. You’ve got this!
