Shalini Nagaraj
Business Initiatives Consultant Enterprise Global Services (EGS)
Bengaluru, India
Fresh from university in 2008 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Shalini Nagaraj decided on an unconventional professional path – she started work in a bank, Wells Fargo. “I was recruited right from the campus. The interaction with the people from Wells Fargo created in me the comfortable feeling that the transition from education to work would be smooth,” recalls the business initiative consultant – and so it proved.
On a rewarding journey
Working in Wells Fargo Enterprise Global Services (EGS) in the bustling Indian city of Bangalore, Shalini can look back with satisfaction on a varied 10-year career, which spans application development, project management and business initiative consulting. In the words of Shalini: “Ever since joining Wells Fargo, my professional journey has been truly rewarding. The opportunity to learn and explore is always there.”
Wells Fargo Enterprise Global Services provides end-to-end analysis of business operations, including people, processes and tools, and develops solutions in collaboration with business partners.
Contributing to the bank’s success
During her tenure at Wells Fargo, Shalini has witnessed the organization’s growth in the Indian subcontinent and in the wider Asia-Pacific region.
Having joined as an analyst and application developer, initially Shalini worked on the development of software programs supporting the Consumer Lending business of Wells Fargo. Later, she moved to the position of a project manager with increased responsibilities for managing applications.
In 2016, Shalini moved to the strategy team, where she now manages a wide array of business initiatives which are mainly focussed on team member experience.
As her biggest achievement since joining Wells Fargo, Shalini sees her professional growth from developer to business initiative consultant – “a truly seamless transition” – the huge amount of knowledge gained and her contribution to the growth of the business. “Every opportunity which has come my way has fostered my professional growth. I was conscious that it also contributed in a small way to Wells Fargo’s growth and this gave me a sense of pride and achievement. In essence, you are growing along with the company.”
Thriving in an open culture
Says Shalini: “If someone is considering joining Wells Fargo, these are the reasons which I will give: open culture, accessible management and good work-life balance.” Work at Wells Fargo in India can be rewarding in many ways. Besides the learning and development opportunities and the chance to interact with colleagues from different countries across the world, team members in India take part in social, charitable and fun activities.
Having successfully evolved professionally at Wells Fargo, Shalini sums up her experience thus, “There is no doubt to me that Wells Fargo is the right place to start and develop your career. Certainly, there is a huge amount to learn, but you can accomplish much, reach new heights and contribute to the growth of the business. And this in itself can be a very rewarding journey.”
