Victor Perez, Credit Trading Analyst, discusses how the Veteran Employment Transition Program helped him transition to a civilian career in finance.
I’ve been in the military my entire adult life. I really couldn’t foresee being a civilian. Having the support network here at Wells Fargo made the transition relatively easy. I’m not sure that I would have ended up in finance had it not been for the internship. Getting a job in finance without any prior experience is quite difficult. Going through the Veteran Internship Program, where you’re kind of still in that little military focus and that little military group before you get put into this big pond, was very helpful. All of the veterans that are at Wells Fargo have gone through that transition, so if you have a question, just reach out to someone. More than likely, we’ve gone through those same feelings. We probably can’t alleviate your stress or anything, but we can just tell you “Yeah, we’ve been there. It’s fine on the other side.” Wells Fargo is committed to employing 20,000 veterans by 2020 and that makes me feel great. I know that I am helping veterans like myself that are trying to do that transition.
